Viridian Landscape Studio (previously Rolf Sauer & Partners at the time of this contract) provided ecological planning and landscape architecture design for this 280-acre property on the River Raisin in Monroe, MI. The sisters wanted a renovation that reflected their values around ecologic and social issues. This graphic is just the lower half of the site. The northern half of the site is farmland that's dedicated to community supported agriculture, some high quality oak savannah that was left undisturbed, and plans for a future eco-village as transitional housing for refugees.
My work on this project was directed by the two partners, Rolf Sauer and Tavis Dockwiller who had two other folks working in the office at the time. I don't want to act like I project managed this, because I didn't. I was a CAD operator with a background in civil engineering, so I wasn't going to to be doing landscape architecture design. But, being on a small team working directly for the partners, I learned a ton about ecological planning, pedestrian and vehicular circulation, vegetated swales, constructed wetlands graywater, restored native landscapes, coordinating construction documents to actually save existing trees, educating clients, and the stakeholder process.
