This is currently in the very early planning stages of the development located on a little over 3 acres on a previously developed, infill site in the City of Tigard. Rick is pursuing certifications in Earth Advantage Sustainable Communities, Salmon Safe, and LEED for Homes.
My diverse work experience (and fearlessly managing and performing in my own band during my 20's and early 30's) has given me plenty of skills to facilitate charrettes. I recently facilitated a charrette for Rick. Many of the 30 or so attendees, including design professionals who have facilitated charrettes themselves, told us they thought the process was interesting, fun, and productive. This event was first and foremost about gathering stakeholder input and ideas to create what will be a touchstone project for the City of Tigard and the region. Certifications weren't specifically addressed in the charrette, but since we were guided by sustainable principles, meeting certification requirements automatically flowed from the good ideas that came out of the charrette. The charrette was the culmination of a number of other services I provided. I worked closely with Rick to decide direction and next steps on the project including production work to generate a few different options of the site to help Rick wrap his head around the size and possible good locations for amenities and houses, project team selection, narratives for grants and to apply for the Earth Advantage Sustainable Communities pilot program, and advice about where he might fall down in his sustainable/community goals as they relate to current jurisdictional code requirements in the City of Tigard, the Tualatin Valley Fire District, and Clean Water Services.
My most recent involvement was to perform a design review of the master plan and generate a report for the team. It suggested ways to reduce disturbance (save trees and limit impervious areas), appropriate places for pervious pavements, possible cistern locations, fatal flaw analysis with some areas of the project, and much, much more.
