Services for Agencies
Sustainability for all the places between the buildings.

My services include mentoring, training and technical assistance in sustainable land development, specifically in the areas of:

  • planning and site layout
  • demolition: salvaging & recycling
  • grading and erosion control
  • utilities
  • stormwater management
  • materials choices

I will work closely with all my clients to build consensus on choosing which sustainable approaches are appropriate and the best ways to incorporate them into the proposed development or code. The main goal of all my services is to be helpful in whatever way I can to break down barriers to sustainable sites. If you have a need that I haven't listed here, please give me a call (503.334.8634! See? I mean it. Call me.)

There is often a disconnect between the best management practices recommended by the Planning Department and any given set of approved plans from the Engineering Department. I will work closely with the City Engineer and other stakeholders as needed to provide resources about why, when, how, and where green engineering applies.

Charrettes

This is just a fancy name for brainstorming. We develop a set of green goals by gathering stakeholders to give on-the-spot input. This process ensures that the final result reflects the best solutions for the project and that expensive solutions become the cheapest solutions because they provide more than one service in the project. This process can also address possible limitations due to lack of funds, concerns regarding long-term operations & maintenance, and the like.

You might use this process if you're developing a new code and want to simultaneously educate and engage stakeholders for their feedback.

Green Web Hosting! This site hosted by DreamHost. This web site was designed with a black background and white text because a rumor was spread by Blackle that it reduced greenhouse gas emissions, but that turned out to be a big fat lie debunked by actual experimentation AND... people had trouble reading my website, so I changed it to white. It's still hosted by Dreamhost, a carbon neutral company. Please consider the environment when printing this or mailing me things or traveling to see me for a meeting or... ohhhh, just do your best and change your practices when you learn something new.
