Services for Contractors
Sustainability for all the places between the buildings.

My services include mentoring, training and technical assistance in sustainable land development, specifically in the areas of:

  • planning and site layout
  • demolition: salvaging & recycling
  • grading and erosion control
  • utilities
  • stormwater management
  • materials choices

I will work closely with all my clients to build consensus on choosing which sustainable approaches are appropriate and the best ways to incorporate them into the proposed development or code. The main goal of all my services is to be helpful in whatever way I can to break down barriers to sustainable sites. If you have a need that I haven't listed here, please give me a call (503.334.8634! See? I mean it. Call me.)

Pre-construction Site Visits

I'll review the permit documents, meet with you, visit the site, and provide you with whatever level of detail you'd like (a simple conversation, a summary by email, a full recommendation report, etc.) about apropriate and practical best practices for your project.

Workshops
I provide contractor trainings on site considerations and proper installation of pervious surfaces, stormwater facilities, and erosion control. I’d be happy to run a workshop for your company to help you with a current project or prepare you for a future one.
Continuing Education

I was invited by the Community and Continuing Education person at Mt. Hood Community College to put together some syllabi for residential contractors fullfilling their new continuing education credit requirements. I proposed four classes titled:

  • Sustainable Site Planning (3 hours)
  • Best Practices for Sustainable Sites under Construction (2 hours)
  • Site Strategies for Energy and Fuel Efficiency (2 hours), and
  • Rain Gardens 201 Field Class (5 hours) to be held in Gresham

Green Web Hosting! This site hosted by DreamHost. This web site was designed with a black background and white text because a rumor was spread by Blackle that it reduced greenhouse gas emissions, but that turned out to be a big fat lie debunked by actual experimentation AND... people had trouble reading my website, so I changed it to white. It's still hosted by Dreamhost, a carbon neutral company. Please consider the environment when printing this or mailing me things or traveling to see me for a meeting or... ohhhh, just do your best and change your practices when you learn something new.
