| Green Girl Land Development Solutions provides information for educational and outreach purposes only, to enhance the sustainability of sites. Unless adopted by the appropriate registered professional under contract, information provided is not for construction. |
|
My services include mentoring, training and technical assistance in sustainable land development, specifically in the areas of:
- planning and site layout
- demolition: salvaging & recycling
- grading and erosion control
- utilities
- stormwater management
- materials choices
I work closely with all my clients to build consensus on choosing which sustainable approaches are appropriate and the best ways to incorporate |

them into the proposed development or code. The main goal of all my services is to be helpful in whatever way I can to break down barriers to sustainable sites. If you have a need that I haven't listed here, please give me a call (503.334.8634! See? I mean it. Call me.)
On a design team, my services will never take the place of your civil engineer. I'm not going to generate a set of plans, details, or specifications to get a permit. (Oops – that’s project management!) What I will do is help design team members overcome perceived or real site and jurisdictional code constraints to achieve a higher degree of sustainability though good science, creative design solutions, and stakeholder processes. |

| Master Planning |
 |
|
- Create, manipulate, and interpret GIS data
- Assist with feasibility studies, site layout, and preliminary utility design while addressing interdisciplinary concerns
- Perform preliminary calculations needed to assess feasibility
- Review codes for barriers to sustainable design that will need to be addressed with variances, adjustments and narratives
|
| Design Review |
 |
|
Design review is focused on finding and detailing sustainability opportunities during the design phase. Optionally, we may want to meet USGBC Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED, not LEEDs - that's a city in England!), Living Building Challenge, and Salmon Safe Certification requirements.
- Early Design Review
- Meet with project manager and/or project owner/developer to get overview of project goals
- Review drawings and other project documents for opportunities
- Generate summary report of sustainable site ideas
Download an example report sample for Early Design Review
- Mid-design Course Correction
- Phone conversation with project manager to assess changes to project
- Review updated drawings and project documents
- Edit report
- Final Design Quality Control and Completeness Check
- Phone conversation with project manager to assess changes to project
- Review updated drawings and project documents
- Edit report if desired to be included in project documents
- Suggest specific details, notes, and specifications or other work products that may still be need
|
| Construction Observation |
 |
|
- Meet with the project engineer, construction manager, and all other relevant construction team members in a pre-construction meeting to clarify plans and troubleshoot problems with the contractor before they happen. (These meetings have been very useful to me as a tool in the past because the contractor leaves the meeting understanding the project goals. In essence, this empowers them with better decision making skills on the site and he/she will know when to ask questions during construction.)
- Assist with approving submittals
- Visit field with project manager to troubleshoot issues or observe installation of green facilities
|
| Custom Work Products & Modeling |
 |
|
- Develop custom details and specifications
- Perform and/or teach stormwater modeling for Low Impact Development (Wikipedia: LID) from small sites up to a watershed or regional scale
- Sketches to get ideas across

| Narratives & Manuals |
 |
|
I can provide well written narratives and manuals that will:
- Get a variances or adjustments
- Provide information on operations & maintenance
- Guide homeowners in stewardship of their new green site
- Educate the public
Help clients use the science and thinking to make decisions about where to put their money or how to execute a particular best management practice
